Paatal Lok actor Jaideep Ahlawat's father Dayanand Ahlawat passed away on Monday (January 13) in Mumbai. The actor's team shared the news through an official statement, expressing their sorrow and requesting privacy for the family during this challenging time. 

The statement read, "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jaideep Ahlawat's beloved father. He departed for his heavenly abode surrounded by family and love. Jaideep and his family request privacy during this difficult time as they cope with their profound loss. We thank you for your understanding and prayers."

The last rites of the actor’s father will take place in his hometown Haryana.

Jaideep Ahlawat on his father's encouragement

Jaideep Ahlawat has often credited his parents for being the foundation of his success. Both retired educators, his mother and father instilled in him the values of perseverance and open-mindedness that shaped his journey into acting. 

In a past interview with Saurabh Sachdeva, Jaideep shared how his father played a pivotal role in encouraging his dream of joining the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). When Jaideep expressed his desire to pursue acting, his father supported him wholeheartedly, saying, "If he fails, he'll do farming." This gave Jaideep the freedom to explore his passion without fear of failure. 

About Jaideep's acting journey

He began his journey in theatre, honing his craft through stage performances across Punjab and Haryana. After completing his education in 2008, he moved to Mumbai to chase his dream of becoming an actor. His film debut came in 2010 with Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha, where he played a negative role. The same year, he appeared in Aakrosh alongside Ajay Devgn. 

However, it was his portrayal of Shahid Khan in Anurag Kashyap’s 'Gangs of Wasseypur' (2012) that catapulted him to fame. The nuanced performance garnered widespread acclaim and established him as a force to reckon with in the industry. 

Jaideep about Paatal Lok Season 2

Looking ahead, Jaideep is set to reprise his role in the eagerly awaited Paatal Lok Season 2. The new season will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 17, 2025. 

Talking about the project, he told IANS, “I think the important factor is that the story has already gone two and a half years ahead. It's not like they have stopped where we left off in the first season, their life has also gone ahead. Some things have changed and some have not. Some things are exactly the same as they were. So, Hathi Ram Chaudhary still sits on the same chair. So, nothing has changed for him in the outside world. Some things, of course, have changed in the house. Some relationships have become better. But his basic nature is still the same. But in the story, a lot of new challenges come up. It feels like the experience he had from the old story is coming in handy here, but it's getting smaller. Something has become bigger than that. I think his basic quality is that he has to know the truth, whether he can do something about it or not. He is determined to know the truth. A lot of things will be revealed in season 2”.
