The Who have split and reformed multiple times since the ‘60s, when they first began releasing music. They’re still technically together, but the band doesn’t write and record like they used to. These days, much of the consumption of the group’s material is focused on the tunes and albums that made them superstars so many decades ago, and it’s one of those classics that brings them back to the charts in their home country.

On this week’s charts in the United Kingdom, The Who scores a hit single. In fact, a track they originally released many, many years ago manages to debut on not one, but a pair of tallies, and it’s even brought the beloved rockers back to the highest tier on one list.

“I Can See For Miles” debuts on two charts across the pond this frame. It launches highest—at No. 10—on the Official Vinyl Singles ranking, which looks only at the bestselling individual tracks on that format in that one nation.

The Who score their third top 10 hit on the Official Vinyl Singles chart with “I Can See For Miles,” and their first of 2024. They’ve already placed inside the competitive region with “Be Lucky,” which peaked at No. 2, and then more recently with “I Can’t Explain.” That track climbed as high as No. 9, and it debuted on the tally only last year.

“I Can See For Miles” is also new on the Official Physical Singles chart, though it doesn’t quite manage to enter the loftiest space on that ranking. Instead, it’s new at No. 14 on the U.K.’s list of the top-selling songs on any physical format, including, but not limited to, vinyl.

The Who has sent a total of five songs to the Official Vinyl Singles ranking, with all but two reaching the top 10 for at least one stay. They have also collected a trio of top 10s on the Official Physical Singles chart, and they’ve found even greater success there. The band has seen eight tunes land somewhere on that roster throughout the past several decades.

“I Can See For Miles” was originally released in 1967 as a single from The Who’s album The Who Sell Out. The tune was the only official promotional cut from the project in the band’s home country, and it went on to become a top 10 smash on the main songs chart in the U.K. for a time.
