Retired actress Dalyce Curry died as a result of the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. Curry was 95 and her remains were found days after the fire burned down her Altadena property.

“About an hour ago the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE 🕊️,” Curry’s great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, wrote on Facebook on Sunday, January 12. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

According to reports, Kelley dropped her grandmother - fondly known as “Momma D” - off at her house on Tuesday evening around midnight, not realizing the devastation that lied ahead. The next morning she rushed to the area to check on her grandmother and was stopped at a barricade and told by a police officer that her home had totally burned down.

Kelley went to the Pasadena Civic Center, where displaced residents were being sent, but she was unable to find her.

In addition to The Blue Brothers, Dalyce Curry also appeared in films such as The 10 Commandments and Lady Sings the Blues.

“She was very active,” Curry’s granddaughter Loree Beamer-Wilkinson told ABC7. “You would not think she was 95.”

As of Sunday, January 12, at least 24 people were reported dead in the Los Angeles area amid the fires.
