Lana Del Rey’s Unexpected Collaboration Is A Top 40 Hit Again
by Hugh McIntyre · ForbesLana Del Rey has worked with many fellow musicians throughout her career. She’s known for partnering with artists who work in genres different from hers, and while those odd pairings don’t work for every star, she plays them beautifully. One of her more recent non-solo releases is a hit all over again, though for some odd reason, only Del Rey is credited on the win.
“Candy Necklace” returns to a pair of charts in the U.K. this week. The single is a strong seller again, at least relatively, as it places on two tallies that focus specifically and solely on purchases in one form or another.
The track reappears highest on the Official Vinyl Singles chart. On the list of the top-selling individual songs on wax in the U.K., Del Rey’s track is back at No. 40, narrowly becoming a top 40 hit again in the United Kingdom.
“Candy Necklace” doesn’t perform quite as well on the Official Physical Singles chart, the only other list the tune appears on at the moment. On that list, Del Rey is back at No. 52.
The single has previously climbed much higher than its current position on both of the charts it lands on this week. “Candy Necklace” peaked at No. 4 on both of the sales lists it reaches this time around. It has now spent 41 weeks on the physical-only ranking, and just 25 turns on the vinyl roster.
Interestingly, “Candy Necklace” is credited as a solo tune, but the version that’s known by many people doesn’t credit just Del Rey. She leads the single, but pianist Jon Batiste is also in there as well, and it’s his involvement that helped make the cut that much bigger.

“Candy Necklace” was chosen as the final single from Del Rey’s 2023 album Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. The track always featured Batiste, and the tune earned both artists a Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, though the prize went to "Ghost in the Machine" by SZA and Phoebe Bridgers. For some reason, Batiste doesn’t win alongside Del Rey on the U.K. charts, and “Candy Necklace” isn’t counted among his career hits in the country.
