X-Rated Mickey Mouse Line Cut From ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Is Revealed
by Tim Lammers · ForbesThe X-rated line Disney asked Ryan Reynolds to cut from Deadpool & Wolverine has been exposed.
In September, Reynolds—who stars as the Merc with a Mouth and is producer and co-writer of Deadpool & Wolverine—told attendees during a Q&A at the Fast Company Innovation Festival, “There was only one line in the entire film that they asked me to take out.”
However, Reynolds didn't say what the line was that Disney CEO Bob Iger asked him to remove.
But since Disney has launched an awards season campaign for Deadpool & Wolverine, the line has been exposed through the film’s script on the studio’s For Your Consideration portal available to awards voters.
Per Variety, the line in the script on the Disney FYC portal reads, “F—-! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c—- in my t-—-t.”

Anyone even vaguely familiar with Reynolds’ Deadpool movies will probably not be surprised by the line, given that the first two Deadpool movies were both were rated R because of the film’s excessive violence and dicey dialogue.
The Deadpool franchise was given leeway, though, since Deadpool and Deadpool 2—as well as Hugh Jackman’s R-rated X-Men spinoff Logan—were produced by 20th Century Fox and were not a part of Disney’s PG-13-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2017, they made a concession and allowed the Deadpool franchise to remain R-rated.
The Cut Line From ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Was Replaced By Another X-Rated Line
Even though Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool & Wolverine co-writer and director Shawn Levy granted Bob Iger’s wish, the duo replaced the vulgar Mickey Mouse line with another X-rated line of dialogue.
“There was only one line in the entire movie that we were asked to change,” Levy told Entertainment Weekly in an August interview. “We have made a pact, Ryan and I, to go to our grave with that line, but I will say that it was replaced with an equally dirty line of dialogue about Pinocchio shoving his face up Deadpool’s a— and starting to lie like crazy.
“I was like, ‘Ryan, that’s your replacement line in response to, “Can we clean it up?”’ That’s Ryan Reynolds for you, audacious to the very edge,” Levy added.
Since the 2024 awards season is just getting underway, fans will soon learn whether the screenplay for Deadpool & Wolverine will be honored with nominations or wins from major awards bodies including the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
In addition to an Oscars and awards season run for Best Adapted Screenplay, Disney and its subsidiary 20th Century Studios have launched an FYC campaign for Best Supporting Actor for Hugh Jackman for his turn as Logan/Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Also starring Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Aaron Stanford—and the likes of Chris Evans, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes, Dafne Keen and Blake Lively in cameo roles—Deadpool & Wolverine is available on digital streaming and Disney+.
