Lisa Matches Her Blackpink Bandmate On The Hot 100

by · Forbes

Lisa is back on the Hot 100 this week with an exciting new collaboration. The Blackpink superstar and solo musician joins Maroon 5 on “Priceless,” which is expected to serve as the first single from the band’s upcoming album.

This frame, the tune opens at No. 76 on the list of the most consumed songs in the U.S. As it arrives, Lisa advances again on the all-time ranking of the most successful K-pop soloists in American history.

Lisa’s Sixth Hot 100 Hit

“Priceless” is Lisa’s sixth track to reach the Hot 100 under her own name. With one more win, she breaks her tie with Psy, who helped introduce K-pop to the world and currently matches with several other superstars.

Now that she claims half a dozen placements on the Hot 100, Lisa is matched with her Blackpink bandmate Jennie for the most wins on the tally among K-pop solo female musicians. While Lisa is originally from Thailand, she is largely known in the music world for her K-pop output.

Lisa and Jennie Tie Jimn and V on the Hot 100

Both Lisa and Jennie are now on the same level as two singers from BTS. Jimin and V have also collected six smashes on the Hot 100 as soloists, and all four artists sit together in third place on the list of solo K-pop acts with the most Hot 100 wins.

Jung Kook and J-Hope Lead the Charge

Two other BTS stars sit in first place and jointly claim the most Hot 100 smashes among K-pop solo artists, but the distance between the record and Lisa and company is not great. J-Hope and Jung Kook have both scored seven placements on the competitive tally. With just one more win, Lisa, Jennie, Jimin, or V could change this order once more.

Looking at all K-pop acts, the ranking changes only slightly. BTS leads with 27 Hot 100 hits, and Blackpink comes in a distant second with nine.

Lisa’s Quick Radio Smash

“Priceless” seems to be performing well on the Hot 100 thanks largely to quick adoption at radio stations across the U.S. The tune surely also brought in a healthy number of streams and sales, but it doesn’t manage to place on any of Billboard’s rankings dedicated to those forms of consumption. The Maroon 5 collaboration does, however, open on both the Adult Pop Airplay (No. 17) and Pop Airplay charts (No. 26) in the same week it debuts on the Hot 100, so it seems that airplay is largely responsible for its current success.
