J&K: Snowfall Closes Gurez Road; 38 Vehicles Rescued In Bandipora
by Northlines · NorthlinesBANDIPORA, Apr 4: Heavy snowfall forced the closure of the Bandipora–Gurez road in north Kashmir, with authorities rescuing 38 stranded vehicles in a night-long operation, officials said on Saturday.
The rescue operation was carried out by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) after several vehicles were trapped near Razdan Pass due to fresh snow accumulation.
Officials said all stranded passengers were shifted to safer locations, while efforts are ongoing to clear the affected road stretch.
The 85-km-long Bandipora–Gurez road has been closed as a precaution after Gurez valley received fresh snowfall over the past few days, prompting the administration to restrict movement.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast continued rainfall and snowfall in the region over the next 24 hours, officials added. (KNO)
