Jammu, Apr 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday attended ‘Naman Diwas’, an event dedicated to honour organ donors and their families, and called them “true heroes” for giving the gift of life.

Expressing gratitude, the Lieutenant Governor said organ donors have transformed countless lives. “No award can truly capture the value of your gift,” he said, highlighting how donations restore sight, hope, and dignity.

Addressing families of cornea and kidney donors, he emphasised that organ donation is among the noblest acts and a true measure of humanity lies in what one gives rather than accumulates.

Sinha urged citizens to pledge for organ donation, saying every individual has the power to save lives even after death. He also sought to dispel cultural and religious hesitations, stating that all traditions uphold the sanctity of life and selfless giving.

The Lieutenant Governor commended the efforts of State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO J&K) for spreading awareness through campaigns, hospital collaborations, and training programmes.

He called on the organisation to further expand outreach across communities, institutions, and workplaces to increase registrations.

Sinha, who himself pledged organ donation last year through the Ayushman Bharat Organ Donation Registry, reiterated the need to build a culture of compassion and awareness around organ donation.
