Legal Action Against Fake Order

The administration in J&K should take stern action against the perpetrator behind the circulation of forged order with regard to announcements of two days holidays in Jammu Division by forging a similar order issued by the J&K government for Kashmir Division.

Reportedly, Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Naseem Javed Chowdhary has clarified that all government as well as private schools across Jammu province shall remain open as routine, and the order making rounds on social media in this context is fake.

It is necessary that the people at helm should take cognizance of this serious matter because creating confusion during the crucial time, when board examinations are underway for classes 10th, 11th and 12th across the province is simply an attempt to create disorder. Such a chaos can also affect the studies of the students besides sending wrong information among the stakeholders appearing in the aforesaid examinations. One can say that mere clarification over the matter is not enough because someone has taken the career of students and public order in the region very lightly and therefore it becomes necessary that the offender should be identified and penalized as per the law to deal with fake news circulation.

The government should ensure that action against the offender should be exemplary so that no one can even think of repeating such a misdemeanor in future.

All said and done, the UT administration should not waste even a jiffy in taking action against the person responsible for creating and spreading the fake order giving a strong message that such actions to create mayhem in the region will not be tolerated under any circumstances. A complacent response to this felony will encourage others to do similar activities, which is unacceptable thus official orders only through verified websites and social media handles, and people should be regularly informed about where to check authentic information. Schools and local authorities should also guide students and parents to rely only on official sources instead of forwarded messages.

In this particular case, the order issued for Kashmir Province should have mentioned specifically about no holidays in Jammu Province looking at earlier cases of similar nature. There is a large section of society which starts sharing such unverified messages without pondering about the consequences, therefore awareness over the matter is crucial to make people understand that sharing unverified information can harm the stakeholders and disturb public order.

In this very case a firm legal action can set an example discouraging anyone from attempting such irresponsible acts again.
