New RAMAYANA Trailer Delivers an Epic Fantasy Spectacle With Incredible New Footage
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantSony Pictures has released another massive trailer for Ramayana, the upcoming fantasy action epic inspired by the ancient Hindu legend of Rama, and this latest preview packs in plenty of fresh footage.
While the original trailer made a huge impression when it debuted last week, this newly released English-dubbed version gives audiences even more to get excited about, including extended looks at several action sequences and an awesome glimpse of the flying elephant Airavata charging into battle.
If the filmmakers accomplish everything they're aiming for, Ramayana could end up being one of the biggest fantasy spectacles ever produced in India.
This is a two-part cinematic event designed for audiences around the world, bringing one of humanity's oldest and most influential stories to life on an enormous scale. The original epic was written thousands of years ago and has inspired countless stories across literature, film, television, games, and mythology ever since.
The creative team has made it clear they're approaching this adaptation with the same level of ambition as fantasy and historical epics like The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and Gladiator. Judging by everything we've seen so far, they're certainly swinging for the fences.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, chronicling his exile and eventual triumph over the demon king Ravana in one of the most celebrated stories in Hindu tradition. Rama remains one of the most revered figures in Indian culture and is honored during festivals including Diwali and Ram Navami.
Joining Kapoor is Yash as Ravana, alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita. The impressive cast also includes Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Kajal Aggarwal, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, and Lara Dutta.
The official description says: “Our Truth. Our History." It continues: "Rama (starring Ranbir Kapoor) is the greatest of all time because he lived a life where the choices he made were always in the benefit of the greater good, duty over desire, and sacrifice over self.
“His legacy continues to enhance and empower humanity over time and bring the belief in the goodness of the human spirit to resolve all conflict and bring peace to the world."
The scale of this production extends well beyond its visuals. The score is being crafted by Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, which is an exciting collaboration all by itself.
Visual effects are being handled by DNEG, the Oscar-winning VFX studio responsible for some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters, so expectations for the film's spectacle are understandably high.
Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and the screenplay was written by Namit Malhotra and Shridhar Raghavan from a story by Malhotra. Malhotra also serves as producer, with Yash co-producing the project. The film is presented by Prime Focus Studios in association with Monster Mind Creations.
The new trailer does an great job showing off the movie's incredible scale while also teasing some breathtaking fantasy moments that weren't featured before. The expanded footage of Airavata soaring into battle is especially cool, and it's easy to see why the filmmakers believe this story deserves the biggest possible cinematic treatment.
Ramayana: Part 1 arrives in theaters worldwide during Diwali, opening on November 7, 2026.
