Natalie Portman Talks About the "Iconic" Souvenir She Stole From the Set of STAR WARS That She's Since Lost
by Jessica Fisher · GeekTyrantActress Natalie Portman played Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel films, Episodes I-III. She was the Queen and then Senator of Naboo, wife of Anakin Skywalker, and mother to Luke and Leia, who she gave birth to before dying.
She was an epic character in Star Wars history, and Portman loves that chapter in her career. She even took what she calls an “iconic” souvenir from the set, but has sadly, since misplaced it.
During her recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Portman talked about the item she “stole” from the Star Wars set, explaining, “I took one of Anakin’s braids. They had these little like clip-on. It’s quite iconic. The only problem is [that] I lost it. I don’t know where it is now. I stole it and then lost it.”
Last year, Portman shared this story on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she also revealed that she took a lighter from the set of her biographical drama, Jackie, in which she played former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, adding that the lighter was even monogrammed.
It’s always fun to hear what actors take from the film sets they made their mark on. Hopefully, Portman’s memento crops up one of these days and she can add it to her collection.
