David Fincheris bringing in two of his favorite collaborators for his next movie, and that’s great news for anyone who loves a killer film score. Nine Inch Nails musicians Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are officially composing the music for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, marking their sixth film collaboration with the director.

The news was revealed on the film’s poster, which also confirmed its release plans. The movie will hit IMAX theaters exclusively on November 25 for a two-week run before arriving on Netflix on December 23.

The film brings Brad Pitt back as Cliff Booth, the laid-back stuntman who stole plenty of scenes in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Tarantino wrote the screenplay for the spinoff, which picks up eight years after the events of the original movie.

Reznor and Ross have built an impressive working relationship with Fincher over the years, beginning with 2010’s The Social Network, which earned them an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Score.

They've scored every Fincher film since, including The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Gone Girl (2014), Mank (2020), and The Killer (2023). Their work on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo also earned them a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media in 2013.

Outside of Fincher’s films, the duo has composed music for Patriots Day, Soul, Challengers, Bird Box, and Queer, proving they can tackle just about any genre. Their creative partnership goes back to 2002, when they worked together on the Tapeworm project. Ross has also contributed to numerous Nine Inch Nails releases over the years.

As for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, Pitt will be joined by Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Timothy Olyphant, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

It's going to be interesting to see what Fincher does with a character who originated in Tarantino's world, especially with Reznor and Ross providing the soundtrack. Their music has played a huge part in establishing the atmosphere of Fincher's films, and hearing what they come up with for Cliff Booth's next adventure should be a treat.
