CHUCKY Creator Don Mancini Expands His Horror Playground With New Haunted House Movie and TV Series With Jennifer Tilly

Chucky creator Don Mancini just dropped some fresh updates one some projects he’s developing. From a brand-new Chucky movie to an original haunted house project and a mysterious TV series with Jennifer Tilly, Mancini is clearly not slowing down.

During a recent appearance at Steel City Con, Mancini opened up about what he’s currently working on, and it sounds like horror fans are about to get a pretty wild mix of projects.

“I’m writing a new Chucky movie,” Mancini told the crowd. “I’m also trying to develop a new TV series with Jennifer Tilly. A friend of mine, his name is Laurent Bouzereau… so that’s something we’re developing with Jennifer. And I’m also writing a new non-Chucky horror movie.”

That last reveal might be the most intriguing of the bunch. Mancini teased just enough to get fans curious, describing the project simply as “A haunted house story.”

It’s a big deal considering his career has been almost entirely tied to the Chucky franchise. Seeing him step into a completely original horror concept opens the door to something very different from his usual style, and it’s exciting to see him branching out and trying new things.

At the same time, Chucky isn’t going anywhere. The new film he’s writing is expected to lean heavily into what made the early entries so effective. The tone is reportedly aiming for something closer to Curse of Chucky and the first two Child’s Play films, which means a stronger focus on straight-up scares. That alone should get longtime fans excited.

There’s also talk that this next Chucky movie could hit theaters, which would mark the character’s return to the big screen for the first time in over two decades. The last two films went straight to home release, followed by the successful TV series, so a theatrical comeback would be a huge moment for the franchise.

As for the TV project with Tilly, details are being kept under wraps for now. Given her long history with the Chucky universe it’s easy to imagine something dark, weird, and maybe even a little chaotic.

Mancini has spent decades shaping the Chucky legacy across movies and television, so watching him branch out into new territory while still evolving his signature creation is exciting.
