US Trailer Unleashed for Luc Besson’s DRACULA Starring Caleb Landry Jones and Christoph Waltz
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantVertical has dropped the official US trailer for Dracula, Luc Besson’s swing at the legendary vampire, and it’s definitely doing its own thing. This marks one of several recent high-profile takes on the iconic character, yet Besson’s version feels cut from a very different cloth.
Rather than retreading familiar ground, Dracula rewinds the story all the way back to the beginning. Inspired by Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, the film zeroes in on the origins of Prince Vladimir and the love that ultimately damns him.
Caleb Landry Jones stars as Vladimir, a 15th-century prince whose world collapses after the violent death of his wife. In his grief, he turns his back on God and is cursed with immortality, beginning his endless existence as Dracula.
Centuries later, the story shifts to 19th-century London, where Vlad encounters a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to his lost love. His obsession with her drives the next chapter of his tragic journey, pushing him toward a fate he can’t outrun.
This approach frames the film less as a traditional Gothic horror and more as a sweeping, action-driven historical epic with a romantic backbone, which honestly feels very on brand for Besson.
The cast also includes Christoph Waltz, Zoë Bleu Sidel, Matilda de Angelis, and Guillaume de Tonquédec.
The official synopsis reads: “In the 15th century, Prince Vladimir (starring Caleb Landry Jones) denies God after the brutal and cruel loss of his wife. He inherits a curse: eternal life. He becomes Dracula. Condemned to wander through the centuries, he has only one hope left: to find his lost love.”
Dracula is written and directed by Luc Besson, whose filmography includes Nikita, Léon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, Lucy, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and more. The film also features a score by Danny Elfman.
The movie already opened in France earlier this summer. Now, Vertical is gearing up to unleash Dracula on US theaters starting February 6th, 2026.
