NOVEMBER 1963 Trailer Puts John Travolta at the Center of a JFK Mob Conspiracy

John Travolta is heading into one of America’s most endlessly debated mysteries, and this time the CIA isn’t the conspiracy theory taking center stage.

Ketchup Entertainment has released the official trailer for November 1963, a JFK assassination thriller from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roland Joffé, director of The Killing Fields, The Mission, Fat Man & Little Boy, City of Joy, and The Scarlet Letter.

The movie takes place across the tense 48 hours surrounding President John F. Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963.

Rather than retelling the familiar official account or focusing on theories involving U.S. intelligence agencies, November 1963 explores allegations that the Chicago Outfit was directly involved in Kennedy’s death.

Ketchup Entertainment describes the movie as a historical thriller told from the perspective of Sam Giancana’s brother.

Travolta stars as mobster Johnny Roselli, with Robert Carlyle playing Jack Ruby, Dermot Mulroney as Chuckie Nicoletti, Mandy Patinkin as Anthony Accardo, and Jefferson White as Lee Harvey Oswald. Thomas Fiscella plays Chicago crime boss Sam Giancana.

The film’s story draws on accounts attributed to the Giancana family and centers on an alleged arrangement between Joe Kennedy and the Chicago Outfit during JFK’s rise to the White House.

According to the movie’s version of events, the relationship soured after the Kennedy administration began aggressively pursuing organized crime, leading the mob to seek revenge.

The official description teases: "With a secret plan, a second shooter waiting in the shadows, and a 'patsy' positioned to take the fall, November 1963 reveals a side of the JFK assassination rarely seen before."

The movie is being promoted with another ominous hook: "One president. Two shooters. One conspiracy that changed history."

November 1963 comes from writer Nicholas Celozzi with the story credited to Joseph Giancana and Celozzi. The filmmaker says the story originated with his uncle Joseph "Pepe" Giancana, who allegedly witnessed events surrounding the purported plot. The movie presents that family account as its foundation.

Celozzi explained the approach while the movie was in production: "The whole essence of the story, the project, why we are doing this, is that it came from Sam Giancana’s brother, Pepe, who was in the room with Sam during these two days.

“The story, the screenplay is their story, my family story that specifically focuses on the ‘outfit,’ Giancana, and their involvement in setting up the ‘assassination’ including the second shooter, who was sent there as a fail-safe backup to carry out the mission."

The JFK assassination has generated conspiracy theories for more than six decades, so another movie challenging the accepted account isn't surprising. What makes this one different is how specifically it plants its flag with the Chicago Outfit theory and presents the story through people connected to Giancana.

It's also hard not to wonder why this particular JFK conspiracy story is arriving now and why the filmmakers chose to put the mob theory front and center rather than the CIA-related theories that continue to dominate so much of the conversation around Kennedy’s death.

Either way, the trailer makes November 1963 look like an interesting piece of historical crime fiction, especially with Travolta, Carlyle, Mulroney, Patinkin, and White playing some notorious figures from the era.

Ketchup Entertainment will release November 1963 in U.S. theaters on November 20, 2026.
