New OTHER MOMMY Trailer Unleashes Jessica Chastain’s Sinister and Terrifying Doppelganger

A new trailer has arrived for Other Mommy, the upcoming creepy horror film starring Jessica Chastain, and this latest look cranks up the nightmare of a child realizing the woman who looks exactly like her mother may be something much more sinister.

The film comes from director Rob Savage, the filmmaker behind Host and The Boogeyman, and follows a young girl named Bela as her home life takes a terrifying turn. She begins interacting with a strange entity that looks uncannily like her mother, but its intentions toward Bela are anything but maternal.

The first trailer introduced Chastain’s disturbing dual role as both Bela’s human mother and the creature mimicking her appearance. This new footage pushes further into that creepy dynamic, including an unsettling bubble bath and a trip into a kiddie ball pit that becomes considerably less fun once Other Mommy decides to join in.

Unlike 2026 horror hits Obsession and Backrooms, Other Mommy comes from a novel. The movie is based on Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman, the author of Bird Box.

Savage directs Chastain alongside Arabella Olivia Clark (The Housemaid), who plays Bela. The young girl gradually realizes that her mother's doppelganger isn't nearly as “nice” as she initially appears, and the entity becomes increasingly aggressive as it tries to get what it wants.

James Wan is producing the adaptation and joining Chastain and Clark in the cast are Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman (Severance), Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen, best known to many movie fans for the Indiana Jones films.

The new trailer also plays up the film’s connections to Obsession and Backrooms, while Savage brings his own brand of child-level terror to the story.

Bubble baths and ball pits really shouldn't be this creepy. Other Mommy arrives in theaters October 9.
