Awesome Teaser Trailer For Alan Ritchson's Gritty 70s Revenge Thriller MOTOR CITY

by · GeekTyrant

There’s a new revenge story revving its engine this summer, and it’s bringing some serious muscle with it. The first teaser trailer for Motor City has arrived, giving us a stripped-down, high-intensity look at a film that leans hard into style, sound, and raw emotion.

Led by Alan Ritchson, this indie thriller is aiming to hit like a freight train when it lands in theaters this July. The movie is set against the rough edges of 1970s Detroit, the story follows John Miller, a working-class romantic who gets pulled into a brutal setup.

After falling for the wrong woman, he’s framed by a dangerous gangster and tossed behind bars. Years later, he walks free with one thing on his mind, revenge. That’s the core of the film, but the teaser makes it clear this isn’t just another by-the-numbers payback story.

Director Potsy Ponciroli, known for Old Henry and Greedy People, cranks up the intensity here with a film that barely relies on dialogue. Instead, it lets visuals, music, and physical performance do the heavy lifting.

The footage is packed with really cool visuals, gritty locations, and explosive action beats that feel pulled straight out of a vintage grindhouse reel.

The film is being described as “a dialogue-free revenge thriller that plays like the longest, grittiest 70s music video you've ever seen."

There’s a raw, almost hypnotic energy running through it, helped in a big way by a pounding rock score from Jack White. The sound design also stands out, adding weight to every punch, crash, and moment of tension.

Ritchson looks completely locked in as Miller, bringing a physical presence that fits perfectly with the film’s minimal dialogue approach. He’s joined by a solid cast that includes Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, Ben Foster, and Ben McKenzie, all of whom seem ready to play in this rough, grounded world.

The film made its debut at the Toronto Film Festival 2025, where it picked up strong reactions from critics. One description sums up the experience perfectly: "A thunderous, high-octane revenge saga powered by pure cinematic force."

The screenplay comes from Chad St. John, whose credits include London Has Fallen and Peppermint, and the project is backed by producers Jon Berg, Joshua Harris, Cliff Roberts, Greg Silverman, and St. John.

IFC is set to release Motor City in theaters on July 24, 2026, and based on this first look, it’s shaping up to be a hard-hitting ride that leans all the way into its gritty roots. If you’re into revenge stories with style, attitude, and a killer soundtrack, this one looks like it’s going to deliver.
