The new animated series Ghostbusters: Night Shift is set to hit Netflix next year, and fans who are holding out getting fully excited for the show, just not knowing what tone the project will strike.

But these new comments from the show’s executive producers should get everyone who loves the Ghostbusters franchise a little more pumped.

Showrunner/Executive Producer Elliott Kalan attended an event attended by SFX Magazine on CinemaBlend, where he teased the level of scares in the series, stating, “This show is legit scary. When you are not laughing at Ghostbusters: Night Shift, you will be screaming. That is a warning!”

Fellow EP Gil Kenan, who previously co-wrote Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and directed Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, also added that they “wanted it to be dangerously funny, actually scary and 100% Ghostbusters.”

Ben Hibon, another executive producer, also discussed the painstaking details that have gone into crafting the show’s monsters, explaining:

“Throughout the series, our characters will face a great variety of different kinds of ghosts. In early design work, we explored the whimsical and the absurd. We tried pushing features and playing with scale.

“We played with texture quality: transparency, the fleshy and the ethereal, but with one consistent prerogative – to really play up the scary side of our ghosts. The tension and danger are omnipresent. The atmosphere is heavy. The stakes are real and long lasting.”

Ghostbusters: Night Shift takes audiences back to New York City in 1994. The story picks up five years after the Ghostbusters famously brought the Statue of Liberty to life in Ghostbusters II, introducing a fresh team of paranormal investigators as a new wave of ghostly chaos sweeps through the city.

This sounds like it’s going to be a fun series! Stay tuned for new info, a trailer, and release date soon.
