Josh Gad Joins Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper's OCEAN'S 11 Prequel

Josh Gad has found his next big franchise, and this one is taking him into the stylish world of Ocean's. The actor has officially signed on to join Margot Robbieand Bradley Cooperin Warner Bros.' upcoming Ocean's 11 prequel, adding another familiar face to what is shaping up to be an incredibly entertaining ensemble.

According to Variety, Gad has landed a significant role in the period heist film, although, as you'd expect with an Ocean's movie, the studio is keeping character details tightly under wraps. Warner Bros. and Gad's representatives haven't commented on the casting.

The project has been building an impressive lineup of talent. Robbie and Cooper lead the cast, with Oscar nominees Wagner Moura, who is set to play the film's villain, and Monica Barbaro also joining the project.

Gad's schedule has become packed with major studio projects. Along with the Ocean's prequel, he'll appear in Space Balls: The New One for Paramount, return for new installments of the Frozen and Angry Birds franchises, and star in the feature adaptation of Oh, The Places You'll Go. He also recently renewed his overall television deal with 20th Century Television.

Warner Bros. has kept most story details locked away, but Robbie offered fans a fun tease during CinemaCon earlier this year that finally revealed how this movie connects to the larger Ocean's universe.

She said: “Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows — his parents. You'll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”

This film will try to put a fresh spin on the long-running franchise. Instead of another Las Vegas casino robbery, audiences will be heading to the glamorous backdrop of Monaco in the early 1960s for what sounds like another elaborate con filled with style, charm, and plenty of twists.

The screenplay was written by Cooper, who is also directing the film. He'll produce alongside LuckyChap Entertainment, the production company led by Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Milan Popelka, and Robbie.

The untitled movie is based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell, with Carrie Solomon having written previous screenplay drafts.

The Ocean's franchise has remained one of Warner Bros.' most reliable brands for decades. It all started with the 1960 original starring Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, and Dean Martin before Steven Soderbergh reinvented the series with Ocean's Eleven, featuring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts. T

hat trilogy, along with the all-star Ocean's Eight led by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna, has earned more than $1.4 billion worldwide.

Fans won't have to wait too much longer to see how Danny Ocean's legendary family legacy began when the film arrives in theaters on June 25, 2027.
