Hugh Jackman Gives Sly Response When Asked About Wolverine's Possible Role in AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
by Jessica Fisher · GeekTyrantHugh Jackman is one of the few Marvel actors who has not been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, and while it’s totally still possible that he will appear as fan-favorite character Wolverine, the actor has adamantly denied his involvement.
But when it comes to Doomsday’s follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, the actor is being a lot more playful about his resistance to confirm.
In a recent interview with Variety, Jackman was asked if he would be returning for Secret Wars, and he responded, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
The interviewer praised the civility in his response, which he figured he wouldn’t be able to answer, and Jackman went on to joke, “I do have an internal chip, that is not metaphorical. There’s a literal chip, and if I say the wrong thing, I get shut down. I don’t know who controls that chip, but someone is controlling it.”
That’s how it must feel to know the Marvel secrets and have signed NDAs and then have to do interview after interview where they ask you the same questions you can’t answer! Luckily Jackman is very charming and easily sidesteps these inquiries while remaining equal parts compliant and likable.
Avengers: Doomsday is headed our way on December 18, 2026; Avengers: Secret Wars is slated to hit theatres on December 17, 2027.
