If you've never experienced one of the greatest fantasy films ever made on the big screen, you're about to get your chance. Cineverse has released a brand-new trailer for the 20th anniversary theatrical re-release of Pan's Labyrinth, giving fans another look at Guillermo del Toro's haunting masterpiece before it returns to theaters this fall.

Twenty years after making its unforgettable debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006, Pan's Labyrinth recently celebrated its anniversary with a special jubilee screening at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

Now, audiences will be able to revisit the Oscar-winning fantasy in theaters beginning this October with newly supervised presentations in 4K, 3D, and premium HDR by Barco. Every version of the re-release has been personally overseen by del Toro, making this the definitive way to revisit the film.

Set in 1944 Spain following the Spanish Civil War, Pan's Labyrinth follows young Ofelia, who moves into the countryside with her pregnant mother after marrying the ruthless Captain Vidal, a military officer determined to eliminate the last remaining rebels hiding in the nearby forests.

While adjusting to her grim new reality, Ofelia discovers an ancient labyrinth where she encounters a mysterious Faun who reveals that she is actually a long-lost princess from a magical kingdom.

To reclaim her place, she must complete three dangerous tasks, all while the violence of the real world closes in around her and her mother's declining health raises the stakes even higher.

The film stars Ivana Baquero as Ofelia alongside Sergi López, Maribel Verdú, Doug Jones, who memorably plays both the Faun and the terrifying Pale Man.

Originally released in December 2006, Pan's Labyrinth earned acclaim and went on to win three Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Makeup. They're all well-earned honors for a film that remains one of the defining fantasy movies of the 21st century.

Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro during the period between Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Over the years, its reputation has only grown, with many fans and critics considering it to be del Toro's finest achievement.

Whether you're discovering Pan's Labyrinth for the first time or returning for another journey into its unforgettable world, this anniversary release looks like the perfect excuse to experience its breathtaking visuals, heartbreaking story, and unforgettable creatures in theaters once again.

Pan's Labyrinth returns to select U.S. theaters beginning on October 9, 2026.
