Final SPIDER-NOIR Trailer Unleashes Nicolas Cage’s Awesome Hard-Boiled Spider-Man Detective Story
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantSony just dropped the final trailer for Spider-Noir, and this series looks like it’s going all in on smoky alleyways, brutal crime drama vibes, and a version of Spider-Man that feels completely disconnected from the usual Marvel formula.
The trailer leans hard into the pulpy noir atmosphere and gives us another look at Nicolas Cageas Ben Reilly, aka The Spider. Sony also continues the fun gimmick of letting fans experience the footage in either full color or black-and-white.
Inspired by the 2009 comic Spider-Man: Noir, the series shifts away from the familiar coming-of-age superhero setup. Instead, this story follows an older Peter Parker-inspired character who’s been through years of pain, regret, and violence.
Cage plays Ben Reilly as a private investigator navigating 1930s New York after walking away from his masked life following a devastating personal loss. Naturally, the past comes crashing back into his life, dragging him into a dangerous mess he can’t ignore.
Fans already got a taste of this character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where Cage’s performance instantly became one of the movie’s highlights. Seeing him now fully step into the role in live-action feels like the perfect evolution of that character.
The new footage shows off gorgeous shadow-heavy visuals, old-school gangster movie energy, and some slick superhero action sequences mixed into the chaos. It looks great and I’m excited to watch it!
The cast surrounding Cage includes Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li stars as Cat Hardy, Brendan Gleeson takes on the role of Silvermane, and Jack Huston plays Flint Marko. The series also stars Karen Rodriguez, Lukas Haas, Abraham Popoola, Andrew Lewis Caldwell, and Jack Mikesell.
The show was developed by Oren Uziel alongside Steve Lightfoot, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, with episodes directed by Harry Bradbeer.
The official synopsis reads: “Spider-Noir tells the story of Ben Reilly (starring Nicolas Cage), an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his previous life as the city's one and only superhero.”
Between the moody visuals, Cage fully embracing the character, and the detective story angle, Spider-Noir is shaping up to be a pretty badass twist on the Spider-Man mythos.
Spider-Noir premieres on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
