MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Teasers Reveal More Skeletor and Spotlight Some Wild Characters
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThere’s a fresh wave of footage from Masters of the Universe, and it’s giving fans a lot more to chew on than expected. A pair of newly released featurettes reveal just enough new footage to show off some familiar faces, tease a few deep cuts, and introduce a couple of wild characters. I’ve also included a new poster.
The first teaser drops us right into the action as Teela tracks down Prince Adam on Earth. Their reunion doesn’t last long before Adam is pulled back to Eternia, where things take a rough turn fast.
Instead of a heroic welcome, he ends up locked in a cell alongside a lineup of classic allies including Ram-Man, Fisto, and Mekaneck, who longtime fans will remember as the “Heroic Human Periscope.”
There’s also a blink-and-you-miss-it moment featuring a mysterious figure spinning like a human tornado. This could be Dian, a character from the original newspaper comic strips who never made the jump to the animated series. Actress Christiaan Bettridge is rumored to be behind the role.
This could also be a reworked version of Sy-Clone. That idea raises some questions, especially since most of the designs we’ve seen so far stay pretty faithful to their classic looks.
Then there’s the villain-focused featurette, which leans hard into Skeletor’s presence, and we finally get a taste of his laugh. Jared Leto seems to be having a lot of fun with the role, and the footage backs that up.
His crew is also front and center, and there’s one quick shot of a character that looks very close to Karg, a name fans might recognize from the 1987 film.
This reboot has built a pretty impressive cast. Nicholas Galitzine steps into the role of Prince Adam, with Camila Mendes as Teela. Idris Elba plays Man-At-Arms, while Morena Baccarin takes on The Sorceress, and Kristin Wiig will voice Roboto. Adam’s parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena, are played by James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley.
On the villain side, Alison Brie plays Evil-Lyn, with Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
In the film, “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia.
“After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.
“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Between the vibrant visuals, deep-cut characters, accurate character designs, and a cast that clearly leans into the material, this could end up being something really fun!
Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5, 2026.
