THE PUNISHER: ONE LAST KILL Teaser Drops Brutal Final Look Ahead of Disney+ Premiere
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantMarvel just lit the fuse on Frank Castle’s return, and it looks like things are about to get messy in the best way possible.
The Punisher: One Last Kill has unleashed a fresh teaser only days before its debut, giving fans one more hit of that raw, street-level intensity that made the character a standout. If you’ve been waiting to see the skull back in action, the countdown is officially on.
The new footage, shared by the official Punisher account on X, comes stamped with the challenge, “That’s all you got?” and makes it clear that Castle is going all out berserker mode.
Jon Bernthal is back in full force as Frank Castle, stepping into his first solo story under Marvel Studios. This time, he isn’t just in front of the camera. He co-wrote the screenplay alongside director Reinaldo MarcusGreen, the same creative partner he worked with on King Richard and We Own This City.
The project carries a TV-MA rating, and when talking about the tone, Bernthal said, “It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that.” That promise lines up with what Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum said when describing the story as “a shotgun blast of a story.” That’s a pretty fitting way to frame what we’re about to get.
The story picks up with Castle searching for something beyond the cycle of revenge that’s defined him for so long. Of course, peace doesn’t come easy. An unexpected force pulls him right back into the kind of conflict he knows best.
Fans of the original Netflix series will also be glad to see Jason R. Moore return as Curtis Hoyle, bringing a familiar face back into Castle’s orbit.
The creative team pulled inspiration from Punisher: Welcome Back, Frank by Garth Ennis, which should give longtime readers a good idea of the tone and attitude driving the story.
To keep things grounded, Bernthal even brought in former Marine Raider Nick Koumalatsos as a consultant, helping shape what he calls the most “high-octane” version of the character yet.
Production on the special was quick and focused, wrapping after just 12 days of shooting across New York City, with scenes captured in Queens and Brooklyn.
Cinematographer Robert Elswit handled the visuals, while composer Kris Bowers crafted the score after his work on Secret Invasion. Marvel Studios leadership including Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, and Sana Amanat are steering the ship.
The Punisher: One Last Kill drops just one week after the Daredevil: Born Again season two finale, and it doesn’t stop there. Bernthal is already set to return again as Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, hitting theaters on July 31.
The one-hour Marvel Television Special Presentation lands on Disney+ on May 12.
