MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN Season 3 Sets Release Date and Teases Reign of the Supermen Storyline
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantAfter a long wait, My Adventures With Superman is gearing up for its return, and now we know exactly when Clark Kent will be back in action.
Along with the release date, new details have dropped that give us a much clearer idea of what this next chapter will look like, and it sounds like things are about to get a lot bigger, weirder, and more intense for the Man of Steel.
According to a new report, My Adventures With Superman Season 3 will premiere on Adult Swim on June 13th, bringing fans back to Metropolis for a storyline inspired by one of DC’s most iconic arcs, Reign of the Supermen.
If you know your comics, that storyline usually kicks off after Superman’s death at the hands of Doomsday, leading to multiple new “Supermen” stepping in to fill the void. But don’t expect a straight adaptation here. The creative team is pulling inspiration rather than copying the blueprint.
Showrunner Jake Wyatt said series is doing its own thing while still honoring the source material: “It’s not gonna be a retread of the comics, but we did make all the writers read the comics.
“It’s less Death [of Superman] and more about, ‘What’s a Superman?’ The fun thing about Reign of the Supermen is that it’s all these impostors who have the same power set but different values.”
That angle opens the door for some really interesting character work, and will dig into the identity and legacy of Superman and what he actually represents.
Wyatt also reassured fans that the show’s return was always part of the plan, even if it took a little time to get there: “I wanna be clear, the studio was always super supportive and ready to make it. We just needed the stars and the bank accounts to align.”
Meanwhile, Jack Quaid, who voices Clark Kent, is already hyping what’s coming: “I just wanna thank the fans for their patience on that because the fans have been really amazing. It’s a really great season. I’ve seen some of it. It’s really funny, but the stakes are also so much higher.”
Those higher stakes are going to come from some heavy hitters. Season 2 already introduced Hank Henshaw before his transformation, and now things are escalating fast.
Wyatt confirmed: “we’re Cyborg Superman right out of the gate,” which suggests we won’t be spending much time on his origin before he becomes a major threat.
Then there’s Superboy. Fans have been waiting, and he’s finally stepping into the spotlight with his classic ’90s vibe intact. But this version isn’t just comic relief or a clone with attitude.
Wyatt teased a deeper role: “Superboy can’t just push Clark’s buttons, so Superboy’s been adjusted to be more relevant to all of our characters, and then he is going to embody the tension between hope in the present and fear in the future…. He was the writers’ and the artists’ favorite character for the season, and we’re going to complicate him a bit over the course of it.”
That sounds like a character who’s going to shake things up. As for Steel, John Henry Irons will be around, but don’t expect him to dominate the story just yet.
Wyatt explained that Steel will be “more lightly involved” this season, though the team clearly has bigger plans down the line: “We’ve got plans for him” and season three will “heavily feature three of the others of the alternate Superman from Reign.”
One big question still hanging in the air is whether Doomsday will show up at all. So far, there’s no confirmation, which could mean the show is sidestepping the traditional setup entirely. That would be a pretty major twist compared to the comics.
Either way, Season 3 is shaping up to push My Adventures With Superman into some interesting new territory, blending classic DC lore with its own fresh spin.
The ofiicaly sunopsis reads: “Clark has truly become Superman and made peace with his Kryptonian origins - he’s ready to settle down! But Lois, who has finally become the Planet’s star reporter, is NOT.
“Jimmy has evolved from freelance photographer to celebrity journalist—but he’s still intimidated by the romantic attentions of the newly arrived Kara Zor‑El, who’s trying to find her place on Earth.
“In our latest action, comedy, and romance-packed season, this found family will have to confront powerful new enemies that challenge Superman, threaten their future, and test the bonds holding them together. Can our heroes save their tomorrow--before it destroys today?”
