Ryan George's PITCH MEETING Roasts BACKROOMS and Its Endless Yellow Hallways

by · GeekTyrant

Ryan George is back with another hilarious episode of Pitch Meeting, and this time he's taking aim at Backrooms, the viral internet horror phenomenon that became a feature film.

Based on the creepy 4chan image that inspired Kane Parsons to create his hugely popular YouTube horror series, the movie follows a group of people wandering through an endless maze of unsettling yellow rooms.

While some fans found Backrooms terrifying, I thought it was nightmarishly boring. Thankfully, George finds plenty to have fun with, poking holes in the movie's questionable character decisions, bizarre scares, and obsession with making empty rooms seem frightening.

The Pitch Meeting video amusingly breaks down the film's story, from a furniture store owner named Clark discovering a mysterious portal to his therapist Mary getting dragged into the nightmare.

Along the way, George has some fun with the movie's attempts at psychological horror, including its heavy focus on unprocessed trauma, characters with absolutely no survival instincts, and monsters that aren't nearly as frightening as the filmmakers probably hoped.

He also takes a few shots at the movie's refusal to explain much of anything, especially when it comes to the strange world everyone keeps wandering into. Whether you loved Backrooms or found yourself struggling to stay awake, this latest Pitch Meeting is worth checking out.
