Brad Pitt Faces the Alaskan Wilderness in First Look at David Ayer’s HEART OF THE BEAST
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantParamount Pictures has unveiled the first look atHeart of the Beast, the upcoming survival thriller that reunites Brad Pitt with director David Ayer, the filmmaker behind the gritty WWII drama Fury.
The newly released image offers audiences their first glimpse of Pitt as James Belmont, a Special Forces officer who finds himself in a fight for survival after a devastating plane crash leaves him stranded in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness.
But Belmont isn't alone. Alongside him is his loyal combat dog, Odin, and together they must endure brutal conditions, dangerous terrain, and whatever other threats the wilderness throws their way.
The film's story centers on the powerful bond between a soldier and his canine companion as they push through impossible circumstances to stay alive.
The official synopsis reads: "After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness.
“Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements. From acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, Heart of the Beast is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet."
The story sounds like it will make for an intense survival adventure. Ayer has built a career telling stories about people pushed to their limits, and putting Pitt in the middle of Alaska with only a highly trained military dog by his side feels like the kind of character-driven thriller that could deliver both action and emotion.
The cast also includes J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Paramount isn't making fans wait long for more. The first trailer for Heart of the Beast is set to arrive on Thursday. I’ve already seen the trailer, and this looks like a great movie!
Heart of the Beast opens in theaters on September 25.
