AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Claims Yelena Belova and Mystique Will Share Some "Hot Scenes"
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantA new rumor tied to Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday is making the rounds online, and if it turns out to be accurate, it could lead to some unexpected character dynamics between two fan-favorite antiheroes.
One of the most exciting aspects of Avengers: Doomsday is seeing characters from different corners of the MCU finally collide on screen. That includes several returning faces from 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise, with Rebecca Romijnset to reprise her role as the shape-shifting mutant Mystique.
Now, according to a fresh rumor from scooper MTTSH, Mystique and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova are expected to share "some hot scenes together" in the upcoming crossover event.
Naturally, that description leaves plenty of room for interpretation. Fans of Marvel Comics know that Mystique's sexuality has long been an established part of her character.
While the X-Men films never explored that side of Raven Darkholme in any meaningful way, aside from her attempt to seduce Wolverine, Mystique is portrayed in the comics as bisexual/queer and spent many years in a romantic relationship with the mutant Destiny.
Yelena's comic book history paints a very different picture. The character is typically depicted as asexual, with Black Widow co-creator Devin Grayson previously explaining that Yelena was intentionally written as someone who lacked interest in traditional romantic and sexual relationships.
Of course, "hot scenes" doesn't necessarily mean the characters will become romantically involved. It's entirely possible the description is being exaggerated. As follower counts grow, even scoopers with solid track records can occasionally lean into attention-grabbing phrasing.
There's also another detail worth considering. Previous rumors have claimed that Mystique will transform into Yelena at some point during Avengers: Doomsday. If that's accurate, the rumored scenes could simply involve some playful flirting, manipulation, or identity-based deception rather than an actual romance.
Still, the idea of Mystique and Yelena sharing screen time is intriguing on its own. Mystique has always been one of Marvel's most unpredictable characters, and pairing her with Pugh's sharp-witted assassin could create some entertaining moments regardless of where the story takes them.
For now, this remains firmly in rumor territory, so it's probably best to keep expectations in check. But if Mystique really does set her sights on Yelena in Avengers: Doomsday, audiences may be in for one of the film's more unexpected character interactions.
