AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Teases a Surprising Scarlet Witch Twist Involving Doctor Doom

by · GeekTyrant

Scarlet Witch might be making her MCU comeback in Avengers: Doomsday, but a new rumor suggests Wanda Maximoff's return could take a very different direction than fans are expecting as she might be living right under Doctor Doom's roof.

According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the Young Avengers will survive the final incursion and make it their mission to track down Wanda. However, there's a catch. Scarlet Witch reportedly isn't missing at all. She's apparently living inside Doctor Doom's castle, and she may even be commanding an army.

That's certainly an interesting place to find Wanda, especially considering how things ended for her in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The rumor gets even more interesting with the claim that Sue Storm is actually Doctor Doom's wife. That detail appears to borrow from Marvel Comics' 2015 Secret Wars storyline, where Doom reshapes reality and creates a world under his control.

If any of this turns out to be true, Wanda could play a major role in Doom's plans, and her involvement might be more complicated than simply joining the Avengers to fight another villain.

The report also shared a cover from Marvel Comics' Avengers: The Children's Crusade, which features Doctor Doom holding Wanda Maximoff. That particular comic could offer some clues about where Marvel Studios might be taking the character.

In The Children's Crusade, Billy and Tommy Maximoff join the Young Avengers in searching for their mother. Their investigation eventually leads them to Latveria, where they discover Wanda has lost her memories and is living under Doom's protection.

Things get really interesting when they learn that Wanda is engaged to Doom. The similarities between that comic and the latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor are pretty obvious. A group of young heroes searching for Wanda, a mysterious connection to Doctor Doom, and Scarlet Witch potentially having a much bigger role in the story than anyone realizes.

Of course, Marvel Studios has a history of taking familiar comic book stories and changing them considerably for the MCU, so even if The Children's Crusade serves as inspiration, there's no telling how closely the movie might follow it.

This also isn't the first time we've heard rumors about Elizabeth Olsen returning as Scarlet Witch. The scooper previously claimed that the actress had filmed an important post-credits scene for Avengers: Doomsday, although that report remains unconfirmed.

Wanda's last live-action appearance came in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she seemingly sacrificed herself when Mount Wundagore collapsed. Her fate was left open enough that Marvel could easily bring her back, especially with the multiverse playing such a significant role in the upcoming Avengers films.

The bigger question is what kind of Wanda we'd be getting. Would this be the Scarlet Witch we've followed throughout the MCU, a variant from another universe, or a version of the character whose memories and loyalties have been altered?

Having her lead an army for Doom would certainly make for an interesting development, expecially if the Young Avengers arrive expecting to rescue her and discover she doesn't want to leave.

For now, it's important to remember that none of these claims have been confirmed. Marvel hasn't officially announced Olsen's involvement in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, and the rumored connection between Wanda and Doctor Doom remains speculation.

Still, if Marvel really is pulling ideas from The Children's Crusade, Scarlet Witch's return could end up being one of the more surprising elements of the film.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
