THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY Season 3 Teaser Trailer Reveals Premiere Date and a Dangerous New Future for Manhattan

AMC has dropped the first teaser trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead CitySeason 3, and it looks like Manhattan is about to get even more chaotic. The next chapter in the zombie spin-off officially premieres on Sunday, July 26, on AMC and AMC+.

The new footage gives fans a look at the fragile community Maggie has been building in the ruins of New York City. Unlike most settlements in The Walking Dead universe, this one actually feels like civilization is clawing its way back. There’s electricity, security, weapons, and a sense that people are trying to live instead of simply survive.

Of course, in this franchise, peace never lasts long. The teaser makes it clear that trouble is brewing across Manhattan, and Maggie realizes she may need help keeping everything from falling apart. That includes turning to the one person she never imagined trusting again: Negan.

AMC released the following synopsis for the season: “In Season 3, Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?”

The trailer leans hard into that uneasy partnership. Maggie appears focused on expanding and protecting the community, while Negan once again finds himself dragged into a leadership role whether he likes it or not. There are also glimpses of brutal fights, collapsing alliances, and some intense walker action scattered throughout the footage.

One of the best things about Dead City has always been its setting. A destroyed Manhattan gives the franchise a totally different vibe compared to the forests and small towns fans spent years exploring in the original series. The vertical cityscape, narrow streets, and crumbling skyscrapers still make this spin-off stand out from the rest of The Walking Dead universe.

Lauren Cohan returns as Maggie alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, with both stars also serving as executive producers alongside Scott M. Gimple.

The cast for Season 3 also includes Logan Kim as Hershel Rhee, Gaius Charles as Perlie, Lisa Emery as the Dama, Jimmi Simpson as Dillard, Aimee Garcia as Renata, Raúl Castillo as Luis, and Keir Gilchrist as Benjamin Pierce.

The series is executive-produced by showrunner Seth Hoffman, Brian Bockrath, and Colin Walsh. Since premiering in 2023, Dead City has carved out a solid fanbase and currently holds an average 71% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Check out the teaser trailer and get ready to head back into the walker-infested streets of Manhattan this summer.
