Young WOLF MAN Star Matilda Firth Joins AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and Fans Already Have Theories
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe cast of Avengers: Doomsdayjust got a little bigger as Marvel Studios has now added another intriguing name to the lineup. Matilda Firth, the young actress who appeared in Wolf Man, has officially joined the upcoming MCU event film.
Firth may only be 11 years old, but she’s already built an impressive résumé. Along with roles in Disenchanted and Subservience, she’s appeared in TV projects like Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Nine Perfect Strangers.
Now she’s heading straight into Marvel territory, and naturally fans are already trying to figure out who she could be playing.
Marvel hasn’t revealed any character details yet, but there’s already a pretty interesting theory making the rounds.
According to several rumors tied to the film’s story, Victor Von Doom reportedly loses both his family and his face in a catastrophic explosion connected to his efforts to “save” the Multiverse.
That tragedy is said to send Doom down a dark road as he targets Steve Rogers, blaming him for the Incursions caused by time travel, before attempting to seize control of what remains of reality.
If those rumors turn out to be true, one theory is that Firth could be playing Doom’s daughter. That speculation got even more attention after her role was reportedly listed on the actress’s representation website as simply “Little Girl” before the listing was removed.
Obviously, Marvel projects are famous for fake names and hidden details, but we’ll just have to wait and see what role she’ll take on in the movie.
The Russo Bros. also recently opened up about what makes Avengers: Doomsday different from their previous Marvel movies, and it sounds like they’re aiming for something audiences won’t see coming.
"There's a place for serialized storytelling. It should all coexist. Why not? I want a diversity of experiences," Joe said. "I don't want to have to just get one thing over and over again. And what Marvel's done better than anybody in history is to serialize storytelling at scale. And Doomsday is, you know, a complete reinvention. It's another swing."
"I don't think the audience is expecting it at all, what happens in the movie, and it's a tone, and it's subject matter," the filmmaker continued. "It feels like another profound shift for them in that serialized story."
Marvel is hoping to shake things up in a major way. Between multiversal chaos, Robert Downey Jr.’s playing Doctor Doom, and the epic cast, Doomsday is going to be one hell of a crazy movie.
The movie will see heroes from three different universes collide while facing a threat unlike anything they’ve encountered before… Doctor Doom.
The film is being directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, who are also returning for Avengers: Secret Wars. The screenplay comes from Stephen McFeely, who previously worked with the Russos on the Captain America and Avengers films.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18. So who do you think Matilda Firth is playing?
