PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 Trailer Brings Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Back for a New Witchy Adventure

Warner Bros. has finally released the first full trailer for Practical Magic 2, giving fans a look at the long-awaited follow-up to the beloved 1998 fantasy romance.

Nearly three decades after the original film cast its spell on audiences, Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Dianne Wiest are all returning to continue the story of the Owens family.

The original Practical Magic arrived in theaters in October 1998 and developed a devoted fanbase over the years. Now, 28 years later, Warner Bros. is hoping to recapture that magic with a sequel inspired by The Book of Magic, the novel by Alice Hoffman.

Set 25 years after the events of the first film, Practical Magic 2 follows the Owens family as a new threat emerges when long-buried truths about their lineage and the origins of their powers are uncovered. The discovery pulls the family into another supernatural struggle tied directly to the curse that has haunted the women of the Owens bloodline for generations.

This time around, the spotlight also falls on Sally Owens' daughter, played by Joey King, who begins uncovering dangerous family secrets while developing mysterious dark abilities of her own. As the situation escalates, Sally, Gillian, and their eccentric aunts are forced to reunite for another journey that takes them far beyond their Massachusetts home.

The story sends the Owens women across the Atlantic to the United Kingdom, where they must confront the source of their family's magic and attempt to save the next generation before the curse claims another victim.

Alongside Bullock, Kidman, Wiest, and King, the cast includes Lee Pace, who appears to be playing a charismatic witch, as well as Stockard Channing, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod.

The trailer leans heavily into family drama, romance, and supernatural mystery while expanding the mythology established in the first movie. While the cast is undeniably impressive, the footage may leave some fans wondering whether this sequel has enough magic of its own to justify a theatrical return.

The film is directed by Susanne Bier, whose credits include Brothers, After the Wedding, In a Better World, Bird Box, The First Lady, and The Perfect Couple. The screenplay comes from Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett, adapting Hoffman's novel.

Warner Bros. will release Practical Magic 2 in theaters worldwide on September 11, 2026.
