Jason Statham Goes to War With His Own Secret Organization in THE BEEKEEPER 2 Trailer

by · GeekTyrant

Jason Stathamis back to kicking ass and keeping his bees in line! Miramax has released the first official trailer forThe Beekeeper 2, and it looks like Adam Clay is about to unleash another round of ridiculous, hard-hitting action. This time, he's taking on the very organization he once worked for.

The original The Beekeeper hit theaters in early 2024 and became a cult favorite among action fans. It wasn't a massive box office hit, but it delivered exactly what audiences wanted from a Statham movie with brutal fights, entertaining kills, and a wonderfully absurd story that made the whole thing a blast to watch.

Now Clay is back, and his problems have gotten a whole lot bigger. The sequel finds the former government assassin on the run as he continues his mission to take down those who wronged him. Things get complicated when the secret Beekeeper organization goes rogue and sets its sights on taking control of the U.S. government.

Clay must protect President Jessica Danforth, played by Jemma Redgrave, from the dangerous organization that's supposed to protect the country. Apparently, tending to his bees and enjoying a peaceful retirement still isn't an option.

The trailer comes with a fitting little tease: "He’s been busy." Indonesian action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto is directing the film. If you're familiar with his work, you know this guy has a talent for delivering some seriously nasty action sequences.

His previous films include The Night Comes for Us, The Shadow Strays, Headshot, The Big 4, May the Devil Take You, Macabre, and Killers. He also directed Nobody 2, so he's certainly familiar with putting dangerous men into increasingly violent situations.

Pairing Tjahjanto with Statham seems like a pretty awesome combination, and I'm curious to see just how far he pushes the action and violence this time around.

The sequel also features Pom Klementieff, Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Yara Shahidi, and Adam Copeland.

The screenplay comes from Umair Aleem and Kurt Wimmer, with Chris Long, Statham, and Wimmer producing. The film is a Black Bear and Miramax production.

What made the first movie so entertaining was how completely committed it was to its ridiculous premise. Statham played a seemingly ordinary beekeeper who turned out to be an unstoppable government-trained killing machine, and the movie had a great time letting him destroy anyone who got in his way.

With Tjahjanto taking over directing duties and the stakes now involving a rogue secret organization and the president, there's plenty of potential for the sequel to get even crazier.

The Beekeeper 2 is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on January 15, 2027, through Amazon MGM Studios.

Check out the trailer and let us know what you think! Are you ready to see Statham unleash another round of beekeeper justice?
