Actress Renate Reinsve in Talks With Marvel About Joining X-MEN as the Character Moira MacTaggert

While the current Marvel spotlight is on Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, as they are the next two films in the MCU, and they are the biggest films since Endgame, many fans are equally excited about the movie coming just around the corner from Secret Wars.

The studio is rebooting X-Men, and the cast is shaping up nicely. One new actress is among the variables of those who may join the cast, as she’s been meeting with Marvel to see if she’s a match.

According to a new report from scooper Caleb Williams of Knight Edge Media, Academy Award nominee Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value, Backrooms, Fjord) met with Marvel for the role of Moira MacTaggert. The actress previously said in an interview with Josh Horowitz back in December 2025 that she didn’t want to join a Marvel movie, but things can change.

In the comics, Dr. Moira Ann Kinross MacTaggert (also known as Moira X) is a brilliant, Nobel Prize-winning human geneticist, a leading expert on mutant affairs, and a close ally and former partner of Professor Charles Xavier.

She founded the Muir Island Mutant Research Center and raised or mentored characters like Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane) and her own troubled, reality-warping mutant son, Kevin MacTaggert (Proteus).

This is a very cool character for Reinsve to take on, if she chooses to do so. And if she does, she will join previously cast actors Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Maya Boyd as Storm.

Adam Driver has been cast as the film's main villain, Nathaniel Milbury, better known as Mister Sinister. And aside from Reinsve, Gen V actor Asa Germann is reportedly in talks to play Warren Worthington III, aka Angel; and Cailee Spaeny is in talks to play Kitty Pryde.

Marvel’s Untitled X-Men is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2028. Stay tuned for updates.
