PAPER TIGER Trailer Throws Adam Driver and Miles Teller Into a Dangerous Russian Mafia Scheme

Neon has released the full trailer for Paper Tiger, and Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, and Miles Tellerare heading straight into a nasty piece of 1980s New York crime.

Written and directed by James Gray, the filmmaker behind We Own the Night, Ad Astra, and Armageddon Time, the crime thriller follows two brothers chasing a business opportunity that promises serious money. As you can probably guess, things go horribly wrong.

Set in 1980s Queens, Paper Tiger stars Driver as Gary Pearl, a former cop who now works as a fixer around New York City. Teller plays his younger brother, Irwin, while Johansson takes on the role of Irwin's wife, Hester. Gavin Goudey and Roman Engel play their sons.

Gary and Irwin see a chance to make a fortune through a business venture connected to Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal, but the deal drags them into the dangerous orbit of the Russian mafia.

What begins as an opportunity to get rich turns into a threat against their entire suburban family, while the pressure puts the brothers' relationship through the wringer.

Victor Ptak also appears as Simeon Bogoyavich, the intimidating Russian mob boss at the center of their increasingly dangerous situation.

Gray has spent much of his career telling stories about families, crime, ambition, and New York, so Paper Tiger puts him back on familiar turf. His previous films also include Little Odessa, The Yards, Two Lovers, The Immigrant, and The Lost City of Z.

The movie premiered in the Main Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it received a mixed response from critics. Driver's performance, however, has been singled out as one of the movie's strengths.

Neon will release Paper Tiger in select U.S. theaters on November 13, 2026.
