Millie Bobby Brown Talks ENOLA HOLMES and Shuts Down Henry Cavill Sherlock Holmes Spinoff: "Men Have Had Their Time"

After becoming a global star thanks to Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown had plenty of opportunities to follow the usual Hollywood path.

Instead of simply jumping from one studio franchise to the next, she took a different approach by building projects of her own. One of the biggest examples of that decision was Enola Holmes, a film she not only starred in but also produced.

That gamble paid off in a big way. Originally developed at Warner Bros., Enola Holmes found a new home at Netflix during the COVID-19 pandemic, where it quickly became one of the streamer's most successful original movie franchises.

Now, with Enola Holmes 3 arriving this week, fans are already looking ahead and wondering just how long Brown plans to stick with the young detective.

Considering Nancy Springer has written ten Enola Holmes novels so far, there's certainly no shortage of source material. When asked by ComicBook if Enola Holmes 4 could happen, Brown made it clear she'd happily return if the opportunity presents itself.

“Gosh, I mean, I’m not I’m not the decider in that, but we’ll see how this one does. But yeah, I’m there if Netflix is there and Louise is there.”

While Enola remains the heart of the series, one of the franchise's biggest surprises has been Henry Cavill's take on Sherlock Holmes.

Across all three films, Cavill has put his own spin on the legendary detective, and with Himesh Patel getting a much larger role as Dr. John Watson in the latest installment, it's easy to see why some fans are asking for a Sherlock-focused spinoff.

Brown, however, isn't exactly campaigning for that idea. “I think we need more women on screen, so maybe not. I think we’ve had that. Men have had their time, and it’s more Enola and more putting women on screen, for me.”

As far as Brown is concerned, Enola Holmes should continue shining the spotlight on Enola herself rather than shifting attention to her famous older brother.

Patel, on the other hand, would happily jump into a Sherlock and Watson adventure if Netflix ever decided to make one.

“I haven’t had that conversation, but I’d love to,” Patel said. “Someone send this interview to the higher-ups at Netflix, and let’s see what happens. I love it because given the way the story unfolds – Sherlock’s missing – we didn’t really get a whole lot of time together, and especially we didn’t really get any time together on set.

“So I think Henry’s done some beautiful work in this movie. People will see that there are some really, really powerful moments with Sherlock, and he’s clearly a fantastic actor and I’d love to dance with him a bit more.”

Watching Cavill and Patel build on the classic Sherlock and Watson partnership certainly has plenty of appeal and it would be awesome to see, even if Brown would rather see the franchise continue focusing on Enola's adventures.

Whether the next chapter is Enola Holmes 4 or something else entirely, Brown sounds more than ready to put the detective's signature hat back on. As long as Netflix is interested, it seems Enola still has plenty more mysteries waiting to be solved.
