AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Teases Major Surprising Twist for Spider-Man, Wolverine, and More
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe rumor mill surrounding Avengers: Doomsdaykeeps rolling, and while plenty of supposed leaks have turned out to be AI-generated fakes, new claims are still making the rounds online about what Marvel Studios has planned for some fan-favorite characters.
With Avengers: Doomsday expected to take center stage during Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at next month's San Diego Comic-Con, fans are hoping the studio finally pulls back the curtain.
A first trailer is widely expected to debut there, kicking off what should be a massive marketing campaign leading up to the film's December release.
Until then, the speculation continues. According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, there's an update on the reported roles of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man andHugh Jackman's Wolverine.
The scooper had previously claimed that both characters meet their end during the movie, but has now added a little more context. According to them, "all the characters die in Doomsday," adding, "And [they] come back in Secret Wars."
That certainly paints a much bigger picture for what Marvel may have planned across the next two Avengers films. However, the insider also shared one detail that could frustrate longtime fans.
"My issue is that Tobey and Hugh die early and sit out most of Doomsday, which I think is a stupid idea," the scooper concluded.
If there's any truth to that, it sounds like both legacy heroes could appear during an explosive opening sequence before being taken off the board for most of the movie.
That's likely going to disappoint fans who have been waiting years to see Maguire's Spider-Man finally interact with Earth's Mightiest Heroes or watch Jackman's Wolverine fight alongside the X-Men in a full-scale Avengers adventure.
Of course, with a cast this enormous, there's only so much screen time to go around. Scheduling challenges, budget limitations, and the sheer number of characters involved make it almost impossible for everyone to have a major role.
The rumor also offers an unusual update on Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, following the emotional ending of Loki Season 2.
The last time audiences saw him, Mobius had chosen to visit Earth and observe the ordinary life that He Who Remains had stolen from him. Now, it's being claimed that his role in Avengers: Doomsday will be "watching a hole in the wall."
That strange description likely points to Mobius returning to the Time Variance Authority, monitoring whatever is happening with the Multiverse while Loki continues holding everything together.
If the Incursions begin tearing realities apart, though, even Loki may not be able to stop the collapse. The Multiverse Saga has been building toward that catastrophic event for years, and it seems increasingly likely that entire worlds could start disappearing as Doomsday unfolds.
As always, these reports should be treated as rumors until Marvel officially confirms anything. Fortunately, fans may not have to wait much longer before learning what's actually in store.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18.
