Awesome New Trailer For SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Brings Hulk, Punisher, and Total Chaos

Sony Pictures has finally released a new trailer forSpider-Man: Brand New Day, and it offers plenty of fresh footage, teases some major story developments, and somehow manages to answer almost nothing at the same time.

Set years after the reality-altering events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Hollandreturns as Peter Parker, who is now living a completely different life. Thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell, nobody remembers that Peter Parker exists. Not only has the world forgotten he’s Spider-Man, but it has also forgotten Peter himself.

That reality has left Peter in a rough spot. MJ, played once again by Zendaya, has moved on and is now involved with someone else. She still has a friendship with Peter’s former best friend Ned, played by Jacob Batalon, while Peter is left watching from the outside.

As if that emotional baggage wasn’t enough, he’s also dealing with problems involving his powers while a dangerous new group of ninja villains comes after him.

Thankfully, Peter isn’t completely alone. The new footage gives fans a look at the return of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner. Their involvement adds an interesting layer to the story and opens up a whole new set of mysteries.

One of the biggest talking points coming out of the trailer is the continued absence of Sadie Sink. Fans have been speculating about her role in the movie for months, yet this latest look still doesn’t give us a clear glimpse of who she’s playing. Naturally, that has only fueled more theories.

Could Sink’s character actually be the film’s primary antagonist? If not, who is pulling the strings? The trailer also expands on the complicated dynamic between Peter, MJ, and Ned. Earlier footage hinted at interactions between the trio, but this new preview goes a step further and shows Spider-Man himself crossing paths with them as well.

It certainly feels like the movie is building toward some kind of revelation regarding their forgotten history together. Whether those memories return remains one of the biggest questions hanging over the film.

Then there’s Bruce Banner, who is now a teacher, which raises a number of questions. How did he end up teaching? Where exactly is he working? Does he eventually discover Peter’s secret? Oh! We do get to see him Hulk out in the trailer! But, will he go Grey Hulk?

There’a a lot of exciting stuff going on here! That’s what makes this trailer so much fun. It reveals enough to get fans excited while keeping the most important pieces of the puzzle hidden.

We get a better sense of Peter’s struggles, a few exciting character reveals, and several new story threads to pull on, but the bigger picture remains frustratingly out of reach.

And honestly, that’s exactly how a great trailer should work.

Also starring Tramell Tillman and Michael Mando, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and swings into theaters on July 31.
