AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Suggests Doctor Doom Could Wipe Out the MCU Multiverse
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantThe Marvel Cinematic Universe has spent the last several years expanding into a massive web of alternate realities, variants, and branching timelines.
But if a new rumor is accurate, Avengers: Doomsdaymight bring that entire concept crashing down. In fact, the film could end with only a single timeline left standing in the MCU.
With Avengers: Doomsday kicking off the final stretch of the Multiverse Saga, fans have been wondering how Marvel Studios plans to scale things back after introducing infinite realities. Once audiences know there are countless universes out there, it’s tough to ignore the idea that they still exist somewhere beyond the main story.
Unless they don’t.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the MCU may be heading toward a massive reset. The rumor claims that after a key group tied to the Multiverse Saga is destroyed, Doctor Doom will take matters into his own hands and eliminate every timeline in existence except one. The source didn’t reveal which reality survives, but speculation has already begun.
One fan theory points to Doom’s own universe. A previous rumor suggested that the villain originates from Earth-828, the world connected to the MCU’s Fantastic Four.
On the surface it would make sense for Doom to preserve his home timeline while erasing the rest. However, other rumors hint that something traumatic happened in that universe, which may complicate that idea.
Another possibility is that if only one universe survives the destruction of the multiverse, it could be the Fox X-Men timeline. That world is the most recognizable reality in Marvel’s multiverse that already features mutants, and making it the new primary universe could be Marvel Studios’ way of fully bringing mutants into the MCU going forward.
It’s an interesting possibility, especially considering how long fans have been waiting to see the X-Men properly integrated into the larger Marvel story. If the multiverse collapses into a single timeline that already includes mutants, it could reshape the MCU overnight.
Personally, I don’t think Marvel would destroy Earth-616, so if this rumor is true, I think that will be the one world left standing. I would be shocked if it wasn’t.
Of course, this is still just a rumor, and Marvel Studios hasn’t revealed any official details about how the Multiverse Saga will wrap up. Still, the idea of Doctor Doom erasing entire realities feels like the kind of high-stakes event that could redefine the franchise.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled to hit theaters in December 2026. As we get closer to the film’s release, fans will be watching closely to see if the MCU really plans to end the multiverse or if something even crazier is waiting on the horizon.
