Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Infamous Mr. Freeze From BATMAN & ROBIN Gets an Cool Hot Toys Figure

Hot Toys has turned Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wonderfully over-the-top villain Mr. Freeze from Batman & Robin into a seriously impressive sixth-scale figure.

Yes, the 1997 comic book movie that gave us Bat-nipples, ice puns, neon-soaked Gotham, and one of the strangest Batman villains ever committed to film is officially getting some high-end collectible love.

A new Sideshow unboxing video offers DC fans a close look at the figure, which recreates Schwarzenegger’s appearance as Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin.

Even the packaging embraces the movie’s frosty aesthetic, featuring Freeze’s face prominently on the front alongside a silver Batman & Robin logo.

Arnold Schwarzenegger played Dr. Victor Fries, a scientist whose attempt to find a cure for his sick wife went horribly wrong. The accident transformed his body, leaving him unable to survive outside freezing temperatures.

Fries built himself a temperature-regulating suit, became Mr. Freeze, and eventually developed a freezing engine capable of putting all of Gotham on ice.

Hot Toys has gone surprisingly hard on recreating that version of the character. The figure features a newly designed head sculpt with ice-blue skin, hand-painted details inspired by Schwarzenegger’s movie makeup, realistic skin textures, and adjustable rolling eyeballs.

His elaborate armored suit closely recreates the costume from the film, complete with metallic paintwork that captures its wonderfully excessive late-'90s superhero design.

The really cool part, quite literally, is the lighting. The armor, helmet, and Freeze Gun all feature LED illumination, helping recreate the glowing appearance of Freeze’s gear in the movie. Hot Toys has also included several interchangeable hands for different poses.

Collectors who go for the Deluxe version get even more Freeze insanity. That release includes metallic glider wings along with a frozen environment-themed diorama base, allowing Schwarzenegger’s villain to command a little icy corner of your display case.

It’s pretty funny seeing Batman & Robin receive this kind of premium collectible treatment nearly three decades after its release.

The movie was infamous for years, but Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze has become one of those comic book performances that’s difficult to forget. The puns, the costume, the giant Freeze Gun, and Schwarzenegger chewing through every scene are all part of its strange charm.
