Chris Pratt Brings Navy SEAL Training to Kids in New WAY OF THE WARRIOR KID Trailer With Jocko Willink

Chris Pratt takes on the role of a former Navy SEAL who puts his young nephew through an intense training program in Way of the Warrior Kid, an upcoming Apple Original Film based on the popular book series by former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink.

The first trailer has arrived, offering a look at a fun and inspiring story about a struggling kid learning to stand up for himself, face his fears, and discover what he's capable of.

Pratt plays Uncle Jake, a decorated Navy SEAL recovering from an injury who spends the summer with his nephew Marc, played by Jude Hill (Belfast), and Marc's mother Sarah, played by Linda Cardellini.

Marc is having a rough time. He's getting bullied at school, struggling with sports, and having trouble making friends. Uncle Jake decides it's time to help the kid turn things around with a training program inspired by his military experience called Operation Warrior Kid.

That means physical challenges, discipline, martial arts, and plenty of lessons about courage. But Jake has some personal struggles of his own, and helping Marc might be exactly what he needs as well.

Willink also appears in the trailer as an intimidating jiu-jitsu instructor. If you're familiar with Willink, you know he's a pretty perfect fit for that role.

The film is directed by McG (Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation) from a screenplay by Will Staples (Without Remorse). The supporting cast includes Ava Torres, Levi McConaughey, Darien Sills-Evans, Carl McDowell, and Parker Young.

For Pratt, playing a Navy SEAL isn't exactly new territory. He also stars as James Reece in Prime Video's The Terminal List, based on the novels by former SEAL Jack Carr. The show's second season recently arrived on Prime Video.

Pratt has also reportedly been considered for Paramount's upcoming G.I. Joe movie, which has Danny McBride attached to direct, although nothing has been confirmed on that front.

As for Willink, he served in the Navy from 1990 to 2010 and commanded SEAL Task Unit Bruiser during the Battle of Ramadi in Iraq, earning both the Silver Star and Bronze Star. His unit included Chris Kyle, whose story inspired American Sniper.

Since leaving the military, Willink has built a career as an author, leadership consultant, and host of Jocko Podcast. He also co-founded Echelon Front, a company that teaches leadership principles developed through his military experience.

Willink published the first Way of the Warrior Kid novel in 2017 after becoming frustrated with the limited reading options available for his own children. The story follows an 11-year-old boy who can't even complete a single pull-up before his uncle introduces him to a completely different way of approaching life's challenges.

The series eventually expanded to five books, including Marc's Mission, Where There's a Will, Field Manual, and Letters from Uncle Jake. The original novel has also received a movie tie-in edition.

Way of the Warrior Kid is about teaching kids that they have more control over their lives than they might realize, and that becoming stronger starts with taking responsibility, putting in the work, and refusing to give up.

The movie will be released on November 25, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV.
