AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumored To Feature Two Incredible Showdown Fights Fans Have Wanted for Years

Marvel fans are dissecting every scrap of information about Avengers: Doomsday, and a new rumor is throwing even more fuel on the fire. According to multiple insiders, the next Avengers event movie could include some wild hero-on-hero clashes that fans would love to see.

None of this has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, but the rumors have been enough to set the fandom on fire.

The first rumored fight centers on Deadpool and Reed Richards. Industry insider Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus claims Marvel Studios is developing a scene that puts Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool face-to-face with Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.

The encounter reportedly escalates into a full-on physical confrontation. While Reynolds’ involvement in the film hasn’t been officially announced, Perez leaned into the rumor with some teasing social media posts, including one that read, “Hmmm… Mr. Fantastic’s going up against the wrong mutant,” while resharing chatter about the rumored fight sequences.

If the Russo Bros. are pulling from classic Marvel Comics storytelling, these internal clashes make a lot of sense. Heroes fighting each other before uniting against a larger threat is a familiar setup.

Alan Cumming has even hinted in interviews that Nightcrawler could square off against Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic, suggesting that tensions between teams might be a major part of the film’s DNA.

That’s not the only potential matchup getting fans excited. Insider Daniel Richtman has pointed toward a possible showdown between Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

This is a crossover Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has wanted for years. He famously pushed for Logan to appear at the end of 2002’s Spider-Man, and if this rumor holds, he finally gets that long-awaited moment.

There was a time when seeing all these characters interacting with each other seemed impossible. But, it’s all happening! We will see the Avengers collide with the Fantastic Four and the X-Men in the same movie!

Several of these insiders are claiming to have seen early concept art that lays out these confrontations in more detail. That could explain why similar rumors are surfacing from different corners at the same time.

There’s also a separate claim from scooper MyTimetoShineHello suggesting Deadpool’s role might be bigger than expected. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the scooper stated, “Deadpool is in Doomsday and help the X-Men fight the Avengers and Fantastic Four.”

As exciting as all of this sounds, it’s still important to keep expectations in check. Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed Deadpool’s involvement, the rumored fights, or any of these specific story beats. Until official announcements land, everything should be taken as speculation.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
