William Shatner Rocks Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” at Riot Fest at 95 Years Old

At 95 years old, William Shatner is apparently done exploring the final frontier and has moved on to heavy metal. The Star Trek icon hit the stage at Riot Fest 2026 in Chicago with his new band, The *uckers, a crew of veteran rock musicians who gave Shatner the perfect soundtrack for his wonderfully strange trip into metal.

The group tore into Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”, along with Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” and Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” with Shatner bringing his unmistakable spoken-word style to some of rock’s biggest songs.

The 95-year-old actor taking on Metallica at Riot Fest on September 20 is exactly the kind of wonderfully bizarre live music moment you want to see, and whoever thought Captain Kirk fronting a heavy metal band was a good idea deserves some credit.
