ELLE Teaser Trailer Takes LEGALLY BLONDE Back to High School Drama

Prime Video is heading back to the beginning of Elle Woods’ story, and it actually look like fun. The streamer has dropped the first teaser for Elle, a prequel series to Legally Blonde that rewinds the clock to Elle’s high school years, long before Harvard Law and courtroom mic-drop moments became her thing.

Set to premiere on July 1, the series digs into the formative experiences that shaped one of pop culture’s most iconic characters.

According to the official logline, the show “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”

Taking on the role of young Elle is Lexi Minetree, who steps into her first major leading role after appearing in projects like Law & Order: SVU and a handful of true-crime-inspired titles. She’s joined by June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mom and Tom Everett Scott as her dad.

The supporting cast includes Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, and Lisa Yamada, along with recurring appearances from Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, and Chandler Kinney,

Filming kicked off in April 2025, with Reese Witherspoon sharing the news on Instagram alongside a first look at Minetree in character. She wrote, “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!”

Prime Video has a lot of confidence in the series. Elle has been renewed for a second season before the first one even drops, with Season 2 gearing up to begin production this spring.

The show comes from Laura Kittrell, who created the series and serves as co-showrunner alongside Caroline Dries. Executive producers include Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, Amanda Brown, and Jason Moore, with Moore also directing the first two episodes.

The teaser itself hints at a lighter, playful tone while still digging into the social pressures and personal hurdles of high school life. It’s a different kind of battlefield for Elle, but one that clearly helps define the person fans fell in love with back in 2001.
