THE ODYSSEY Poster Unleashes an Epic New Look at Christopher Nolan’s Mythic Adventure
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantChristopher Nolan’s The Odysseycontinues to build anticipation with every new piece of marketing, and the latest poster may be the film’s most impressive reveal yet.
The newly released artwork offers a striking look at Matt Damon’s Odysseus standing before what appears to be an army of towering armored giants. It’s an image that immediately captures the scale Nolan is aiming for with his adaptation of Homer’s legendary tale, and it teases one of the story’s most memorable encounters.
For those familiar with the original epic poem, Odysseus crosses paths with the Laestrygonians, a race of cannibal giants responsible for destroying much of his fleet during his long journey home.
The new poster seems to offer Nolan’s interpretation of these mythical beings, presenting them as massive, heavily armored figures that look ready to overwhelm anyone standing in their path.
The marketing campaign for The Odyssey has already delivered several stunning glimpses of the film’s world, but I love this visual. It showcases the immense scale of the production.
The film has already sparked plenty of discussion online regarding some of its costume designs. Nolan previously addressed those conversations, explaining that many creative choices were rooted in historical accuracy.
As more footage and imagery continue to emerge, audiences are getting a better understanding of the filmmaker’s vision for this legendary story.
Adding to the film’s ambition, the production was shot using new IMAX technology, further cementing Nolan’s ongoing commitment to delivering the biggest cinematic experience possible. Given how much he values the format, fans can probably expect some truly jaw-dropping visuals when the movie arrives in theaters.
What makes this project especially cool is how it reportedly embraces the supernatural aspects of Greek mythology. Rather than relying on direct depictions of the gods, the film is said to use the natural world itself to communicate their presence and influence throughout the story.
There’s also been plenty of conversation surrounding the importance of the project for its cast. The film has been positioned as a defining moment in Damon’s career, while its production schedule reportedly had a surprising ripple effect that helped clear the path for Tom Holland’s upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Alongside Damon and Holland, the cast includes Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Corey Hawkins, Josh Stewart, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, and more.
With giant warriors, the fall of Troy, mythical creatures, and a massive IMAX presentation, The Odyssey is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious films of Nolan’s career. The film sails into theaters on July 17, 2026.
