Iman Vellani Jokes Marvel’s YOUNG AVENGERS Will Age Out Before It Happens

by · GeekTyrant

Some Marvel fans have been waiting to see the MCU’s younger heroes finally assemble, but according to Ms. Marvel starIman Vellani, that wait might be getting a little ridiculous.

The actress recently addressed the long-rumored Young Avengers project while speaking with the Revenge of Podcast, and she managed to sum up the current situation with one brutally funny comment.

“I will say I’m personally more of a Champions fan than Young Avengers,” she said. “I think those story lines are way more relevant. But also, none of us is going to be young by the time they get around.”

Marvel Studios has been teasing some version of a younger superhero team for years now. The biggest setup came at the end of The Marvels when Kamala Khan started recruiting heroes, including Kate Bishop, in a scene that instantly had fans assuming Young Avengers was finally on the way.

Since then, though, Marvel hasn’t officially announced anything. At this point, rumors have shifted toward the project potentially becoming a Championsseries instead. That would actually line up pretty well with Vellani’s comments, especially since the Champions comics featured younger heroes operating outside the shadow of the classic Avengers lineup.

The age issue is becoming harder to ignore. Many of the actors connected to the rumored roster are already in their 20s. Depending on when Marvel actually pulls the trigger on the project, some could easily be pushing into their 30s before cameras even start rolling.

Fans have still been clinging to every possible clue. Leaked concept art tied to the upcoming Avengers films appeared to feature a lineup including Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Speed, and Wiccan hanging out with Wong and Star-Lord. While concept art doesn’t confirm anything, it definitely kept speculation alive.

There’s also the lingering mystery surrounding where Kamala Khan fits into the next phase of the MCU. One of the post-credit scenes in The Marvels teased larger multiverse connections with the appearance of Kelsey Grammer as Beast, seemingly planting seeds for Avengers: Doomsday and whatever chaos follows.

So far, neither Vellani, Brie Larson, nor Teyonah Parris have been confirmed for Doomsday. For now, though, Marvel’s younger generation remains stuck in development limbo while fans keep waiting for the team-up that feels increasingly overdue.

At the very least, Vellani seems fully aware of the irony. If Marvel waits much longer, they may need to rename the team Moderately Experienced Avengers.
