POPEYE THE SLAYER MAN 2 Kicks Off Filming With Daniel Baldwin & Avaryana Rose; First Details and Bigger Carnage Teased

The twisted horror take on everyone’s favorite spinach-loving sailor is getting a new chapter. Popeye The Slayer Man 2is officially in production, and this sequel looks like it’s aiming to crank everything up.

With filming underway in upstate New York, new cast members have joined the chaos, and the first details tease a nastier, more expanded story.

The follow-up brings in Daniel Baldwin (Homicide: Life on the Street) and Avaryana Rose (The Caretaker), adding fresh faces to the growing body count. Baldwin steps in as the town’s mayor, while Rose plays his daughter, placing them right in the middle of the madness.

If you caught the first film, you already know this version of Popeye isn’t here for laughs. The sequel picks up with the legendary sailor still spiraling after the contaminated spinach that turned him into a relentless killer.

Now he’s out for revenge after his home is destroyed, leaving a trail of violence while authorities close in and estranged family members try to reach whatever humanity he has left.

Producer Jeff Miller promises things are getting more intense this time around, saying: “This movie is bigger and bloodier than the first. More kills and gore and more Popeye backstory. Fans of the original won’t be disappointed, and we believe we’ll get new fans with this one.”

Returning to the madness are Sean Michael Conway, Elena Juliano, Sarah Nicklin, Nathan Todaro, and Jason Stephens, who once again takes on the role of the terrifying sailor himself.

They’re joined by newcomers Chelsea Gilson, Mia Rose, Derek Poole, and Jesse Wakeman, rounding out a cast that’s clearly ready to dive deeper into the chaos.

Director Robert Michael Ryan is back at the helm, working from a script by John Doolan (Remains). The story itself comes from a collaboration between Miller, Cuyle Carvin, and Ryan, suggesting a continuation that expands the mythology rather than just repeating the formula.

The film is being produced through a collaboration between Salem House Films, Millman Productions, Cloud 9 Productions, Babe Entertainment, Ron Lee Productions, and Otsego Media.

Turning Popeye into a slasher villain still feels like a ridiculous idea, but there’s an audience for it. With a bigger scope, more backstory, and an emphasis on pushing the horror elements further, Popeye The Slayer Man 2 is shaping up to lean fully into its strange concept.

Whether you’re here for the gore or just curious how far this bizarre reinterpretation can go, this sequel sounds like it’s ready to deliver something even more unhinged.
