Sigourney Weaver Hopes James Cameron Gets Make AVATAR 4 and 5 "Because They're Two Incredible Stories That Fulfill Everything"

Last year’sAvatar: Fire and Ash expanded the world of Avatar in some exciting new ways, introducing audiences to the dangerous Mangkwan clan led by Oona Chaplin’s intimidating Varang while also pushing Kiri further into the spiritual mystery surrounding Eywa.

By the end of the film, Sigourney Weaver’s Kiri seemed to tap into something much bigger than anyone expected, hinting that her role in the franchise is only getting more important moving forward.

Weaver has already shared that Kiri will serve as the narrator of Avatar 4, but with the future of the franchise still unconfirmed beyond the upcoming films, fans are wondering if James Cameron will actually get to finish the massive story he’s been building toward for years.

While speaking in London about her role as Colonel Ward in The Mandalorian and Grogu, Weaver was asked if she and Cameron have talked about Kiri stepping into that narrator role for the next chapter.

"Well, they're all written, so I know what happens. I think I see Jim next week because I'm going to put my hands and feet in cement in Hollywood, and he's going to say a few words. So, maybe we'll have a conversation where he'll say, 'I'm thinking of this or that.'"

Even though Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 still haven’t officially been locked in, Weaver sounds genuinely hopeful that Cameron gets the chance to complete the story exactly the way he envisioned it.

"I hope we get to do it, because they're two incredible stories that fulfill everything Jim wanted to say for our benefit as Earthlings, as humans," she adds. "But, whatever they want to do is fine."

Cameron has spent years talking about how personal and ambitious the later Avatar films become, and I’m sure fans of the franchise would appreciate getting to see Cameron’s full vision for his story realized.

Kiri especially feels like the emotional center of the franchise moving forward. Her strange connection to Eywa has been one of the most fascinating threads in the newer films, and Fire and Ash seemed to crank that mystery up to another level entirely.

Making her the narrator of Avatar 4 only adds more fuel to the theory that she’ll become one of the saga’s most important characters.

Outside of Pandora, Weaver is also stepping into the galaxy far, far away with The Mandalorian and Grogu. She plays a New Republic commanding officer stationed in the Outer Rim who sends Din Djarin and Grogu on a mission to rescue Rotta The Hutt.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, while fans continue waiting to see if Cameron’s full Avatar vision will ultimately make it to the big screen.
