Sacha Baron Cohen Wraps Filming on Secret Film That Will Bring Back His Character ALI G

Academy Award nominee Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, The Trial of the Chicago 7) has wrapped production on a new Ali G film, which will bring his sketch comedy breakout back to the big screen. The character was previously featured in the 2002 comedy Ali G Indahouse.

This new film was shot in secret, much like Cohen operated on 2006’s Borat and 2020’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, two of his most popular movies. Cohen also brought another of his sketch characters to cinemas with 2009’s Brüno.

As fans of the comedian know, Ali G is a streetwise interviewer whose hip hop slang often bewilders guests such as Noam Chomsky, Andy Rooney and Newt Gingrich.

The character originally appeared on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show before becoming the title character of Da Ali G Show in the early 2000s. He earned a following in the U.S. when the series aired on HBO.

Cohen recently appeared in the Netflix film Ladies First and Balls Up. He also starred opposite Kevin Kline and Cate Blanchett in Alfonso Cuarón’sDisclaimer for Apple+.
