Judge actions by intentions – Daniel Etim Effiong tells fans, defends kissing scenes

Nollywood actor, Daniel Etim Effiong has defended his participation in kissing scenes in movies, arguing that actions should be judged by a person’s intentions rather than by outward appearances.

Speaking in a video shared online, the actor questioned critics who condemn actors for performing romantic scenes, drawing a comparison with medical professionals whose jobs require them to examine intimate parts of the body.

“Would you ask this same question to a gynaecologist? Do you know who a gynaecologist is? Of course, a guy is a doctor, a medical doctor that saves lives and works with women and looks at the female genitals every day,” he said.

According to Effiong, the morality of an action is determined by the condition of a person’s heart and not merely by the act itself.

Referencing biblical teachings, the actor maintained that what comes from within a person is more significant than what is visible externally.

He further argued that even seemingly harmless actions such as looking at someone or shaking a person’s hand could be used for negative purposes, insisting that such acts could, in some circumstances, be more harmful than kissing.

“There’s a condition of a man’s heart that judges what he does, that qualifies what he does, that makes it good or evil. It’s not what you see from the outside; it’s what the man is, the condition of his heart,” he added.

Effiong’s comments have since left social media users divided over his views on acting and morality.
